💕 Quirky upper level type looking for perfect fit. 💕
I’ve owned this horse for two years now and can tell you about anything you need to know. He’s a 2017 gelding sired by Treasure Beach standing 16.3h that retired from racing in July of this year. During that time he frequently was cross training at the farm, he was lightly raced over the last two years due to being a turf horse (harder to find races for him). He came back to me in pretty horrific condition in July after being at the track for 3 months out of my care and I honestly had no intention of finding him another home. However, as he’s gained all of his condition (and more back) he’s made it quite clear - he ain’t done. He’s bored as can be, sound, healthy and needs employment. Voltamour is an upper level type, he is naturally uphill, athletic, has stamina for days and is brave / bold. If you’re the type of rider that’s going to ask me “does it spook, buck, etc” - you can just move along because yes, he’ll do all those things when he’s feeling his best. It’s who he is at the core and you’re unlikely to change it. That said, when he’s in regular work he’s pretty manageable and it’s usually limited to the occasional spook. Don’t think you’re going to put him back into work after months off without lunging it first (ask me how we know). He’ll stand like an angel to get on and walk off well, but you’re more likely than not to have a small happy rodeo at some point in the ride.
He likes the finer things in life, thinks the world revolves around him (it does) and overall just is a horse that *knows* he’s stunning. He is personality on personality and every rider I’ve ever had working him ends up falling in love. Despite all of his quirks, he’s just one cool dude. He lives for apples, specifically cosmic crisp. He doesn’t like cold baths (god forbid!). He likes routine and is demanding about it. If I’m in the barn around 4 pm, he knows dinner is due and will scream at me until I oblige. If we are tacking up others and not him, he’s also yelling at me “ME NEXT!”
If you’re not running for the hills yet, let’s get to the good. He had a strong flatwork basis over these last two years. We also started him over fences. He was bold, brave and honest over jumps. He is a horse that will go all day. He loves to gallop, when he sees the track he lights up. I think, he’d like to be an event horse in his future career. Voltamour is all about the thrills. If you ask him, he’s won the Kentucky Derby 3 times (he hasn’t, he was an OK racehorse but always came back to the barn like he won every start). He is BEYOND fancy, this guy oozes presence and is an above average mover. He has all of the talent in the world (but definitely currently needs a direction). He’ll go out alone or with a friend, he does like to play and is more manageable when he has company in the field. He gets led with and is respectful of a shank. He’ll need an advanced rider or pro that’s quiet and can take a joke, if you’re not prepared to sit up there and laugh at his joyful expressions at time he probably ain’t for you.
I love this horse to death. I will be beyond particular about where he goes. He has no vices, currently shod up front and barefoot behind. We maintained him yearly at the track but he’s not had anything done in about a year. He did get vetted about a month ago and while he vetted well they passed due to some minor ankle rounding. He is sound, flexed well and has not had any maintenance there since Nov 2023. This horse is tough as nails.

He’s located in Ocala FL.
If you’re still thinking “man that’s right up my alley” give me a call, I’m going to want to talk to you at length to insure this is the right fit for him. 5* home is of most importance.
Further details photos and videos will be posted next week. Video posted below is his first ride at a new place (training center here in ocala). He’s not a total
rogue or a mean horse, he’s just cheeky.
